Give Back WHATEVER You Can and Help Those in NEED!
Give to the poor, especially in times of Crisis!
“Whoevershuts his ears at the cry of the poor Will cry out himself and not be answered.”
PROVERBS 21:13 AMP
“He who is generous will be blessed, For he gives some of his food to the poor.”
PROVERBS 22:9 AMP
Tithe and Offerings
This specific topic has caused a lot of rebellion and confusion in the church, so to expand a tithe is an amount. Through the bible believers chose to give a tenth of their cattle or estate (anything that they possessed) to the church. In modern times, this is a ten percentage of your take home income.
“This stone which I have set up as a pillar (monument, memorial) will be God’s house [a sacred place to me], and of everything that You give me I will give the tenth to You [as an offering to signify my gratitude and dependence on You].””
GENESIS 28:22 AMP
An offering is anything given beyond that (or in addition to), but not in place of the tithe. As my pastor in the United Kingdom told me, “Don’t count every penny when you have extra to give.” Sometimes we hold on so tight to materialistic things that we lose focus of the source, and end up with nothing at all.
“There is the one who [generously] scatters [abroad], and yet increases all the more; And there is the one who withholds what is justly due, but it results only in want and poverty.”
PROVERBS 11:24 AMP
Giving tithes and offering in your church is a sacrificial way to show your thankfulness for God’s provision in your life. This is also a way to give back to the church and the community as well. A lot of people need help right now. The world would be a much better place if everyone did their part in the community.
“For if the eagerness [to give] is there, it is acceptable according to what one has, not according to what he does not have.”
2 CORINTHIANS 8:12 AMP
“Will a man rob God? Yet you are robbing Me! But you say, ‘In what way have we robbed You?’ In tithes and offerings [you have withheld].”
MALACHI 3:8 AMP
Be incredibly Generous:
The New Testament does not lay out a percentage of tithes for what we should give because Jesus came to set a new covenant with us under faith and not the law. Therefore, we must not give a tenth to receive something or because we are forced to do so. We should willingly choose to give whatever we feel in our hearts. For that reason, if you can afford to give more than a tenth then why not? Maybe you can only afford to give five percent (maybe things are too too tight). That’s okay because under faith we should trust that God’s grace is sufficient to give us what we need and to help those who need as well.
“Let each one give [thoughtfully and with purpose] just as he has decided in his heart, not grudgingly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver [and delights in the one whose heart is in his gift].”
2 CORINTHIANS 9:7 AMP
We should show God how thankful we are by being a blessing to others! God sees everything and knows everything, so when you give to others you don’t have to announce it. The memo wasn’t lost! He also knows what you can afford to give and He knows if you give willingly or not. God knows each and every heart. I keep repeating this because it’s so vital for us to remember to leave self righteous pride out of charity.
“I tell you, this man went to his home justified [forgiven of the guilt of sin and placed in right standing with God] rather than the other man; for everyone who exalts himself will be humbled, but he who humbles himself [forsaking self-righteous pride] will be exalted.””
Luke 18:14 AMP
I always advise my friends and family to budget using Dave Ramsey’s envelope method or his app EveryDollar. Dave Ramsey is a millionaire and a Christian. He provides some very insightful financial advice about budgeting for tithes and offering and ways to save so you can generously give back to a charity or a particular cause. One of my favourite quotes for him is, “Generosity is a spirit! It will change your character!” Check out Dave Ramsey’s biblical advice on his YouTube video, “Proven Biblical Money Principles”.
Saving is obviously hard if you are lacking financially, have limited funds or simply just living paycheck to paycheck, but don’t ignore the prompting of the Holy Spirit (your spiritual conscience) and avoid making the necessary changes. Do not delay cutting out expenses that you do not need.
“Behold, here is what I have seen to be good and fitting: to eat and drink, and to find enjoyment in all the labor in which he labours under the sun during the few days of his life which God gives him—for this is his [allotted] reward. Also, every man to whom God has given riches and possessions, He has also given the power and ability to enjoy them and to receive [this as] his [allotted] portion and to rejoice in his labor—this is the gift of God [to him].”
ECCLESIASTES 5:18-19 AMP
God blessed His people from their honest labour. But do not reserve for yourself. Share it so everyone can also be blessed by God.
We will need to stand before God and give an account of how we steward the blessing that He has given us.

“For which one of you, when he wants to build a watchtower [for his guards], does not first sit down and calculate the cost, to see if he has enough to finish it?”

Wise people save and invest money:
“There is precious treasure and oil in the house of the wise [who prepare for the future], But a short-sighted and foolish man swallows it up and wastes it.”
PROVERBS 21:20 AMP
Save for a rainy day; something is going to come up. Save and invest so you retire with dignity!
“She considers a field before she buys or accepts it [expanding her business prudently]; With her profits she plants fruitful vines in her vineyard.”
PROVERBS 31:16 AMP
“His master said to him, ‘Well done, good and faithful servant. You have been faithful and trustworthy over a little, I will put you in charge of many things; share in the joy of your master.’”
MATTHEW 25:21 AMP
Principle: Make sure your motive for investing is not to become richer but to be more financially stable and free.
“The rich rules over the poor, and the borrower is the slave of the lender. Whoever sows injustice will reap calamity, and the rod of his fury will fail.”
Proverbs 22:7-8 ESV
Once you’re out of debt ensure to foster high quality relationships!:
“Do not be deceived: “Bad company corrupts good morals.” Be sober-minded [be sensible, wake up from your spiritual stupor] as you ought, and stop sinning; for some [of you] have no knowledge of God [you are disgracefully ignorant of Him, and ignore His truths]. I say this to your shame.”
1 CORINTHIANS 15:33-34 AMP
Accumulate an inheritance to pass down.
“A good man leaves an inheritance to his children’s children, And the wealth of the sinner is stored up for [the hands of] the righteous.”
PROVERBS 13:22 AMP
Save money for emergencies ONLY not greed
“In the seven abundant years the earth produced handfuls [for each seed planted]. And Joseph gathered all the [surplus] food of the seven [good] years in the land of Egypt and stored [enormous quantities of] the food in the cities. He stored away in every city the food [collected] from its own surrounding fields. Thus Joseph gathered and stored up grain in great abundance like the sand of the sea, until he stopped counting it, for it could not be measured.”
